On Happiness
I smile when people at work think I'm not happy, because they SO DON'T KNOW the happy prankster that drives my personality. My Chinese zodiac character is The (Fire) Monkey. (it is very accurate - even the horrible traits - at least i am honest about it)

The cynical, and often too blunt Mike is just the daily armor I wear to defend my inner child from the soul-crushing capitalistic construct that we refer to as "employment". It's not employment, or a career or, a race ... it's bondage to a system that is out of control, and ultimately morally wrong.
The POINT is - seizing happiness is your obligation to yourself, and the antidote to what happens between 8 AM and 4:30 PM. It's a critical life sustaining element, like water.

On Creativity
A well balanced life consists of integration of both lobes of your brain - the creative part, as well as the more orderly intellectual part. "Making Art" as well as consuming it is a richer experience because it expands your mind and strokes some inner validation that we have sought out since we painted on cave walls. It just FEELS good to create stuff.

On Scalability
READ any of the reports of the Post Carbon Institute. PLEASE
"FACT: The mathematical law of exponents precludes continual and increasing growth in a closed system."
I use the term SCALABILITY in terms of whether a SOLUTION (petroleum) can meet the NEEDS of over 6 BILLION people. We find ourselves globally overextended and overconsuming our resources, when the genuine carrying capacity of our ecosystem stands at little more than 2 BILLION. As gently as possible, I want my friends to grasp that we stand at the tipping point of civilization - AND - That is a GOOD THING.
